Understanding mysuper's low fees

Just like KiwiSaver, banks, and online share investing platforms, fees are charged by mysuper. But because we’re not for profit we only charge you what mysuper costs to manage, nothing more!

What fees will I pay and why?

The fees you pay cover just the investment management and administration fees to keep everything running smoothly and pay the experts to do what they do well – invest your retirement savings.

Fees are deducted from your investment and are charged in two ways:

  • Regular charges (for example, annual fund charges). Small differences in these fees can have a big impact on your investment over the long term.
  • One off fees (for example, investment switch fees)

What makes up my annual fund charge?

The estimated annual fund charge for each mysuper Fund / easyselect option, for the year ending 30 June 2023 are set out in the table below.*

Each of our three easyselect options are 100% invested in the corresponding Fund. For example, the easyselect Balanced investment option is 100% invested in the mysuper Balanced Fund.

The same fees apply whether you selfselect your investment fund or use the easyselect investment option.

* The annual fund charges are the total fees for the financial year ending 30 June 2023.  The annual fund charges for next year (i.e. ending 30 June) may be different from the fund charges shown above because the management and administration charges for the year covered by this investment update have been reduced by virtue of the Trustee exercising its discretion to apply reserve account funds to meet part of mysuper’s administration expenses that would usually be charged against the mysuper Fund / easyselect option.

What other fees may I need to pay?

Additional fees may be charged if you ask mysuper to do something in particular for you. The two main reasons for extra fees are an Investment Fund Switch Fee or a Written Benefit Quote fee.

Further information on the fees associated with mysuper can be found in the mysuper Product Disclosure statement and the Fees and other Charges offer document.
